Light the Night

Hanging out post-walk

Say “Cheeessse!”

Group Shot of Team Thompson

Theme: How About this Weather

On a wet, rainy Thursday night about 30 friends and family walked in the Luekemia & Lymphoma Society Light the Night Walk for “Team Thompson” in support of Kim Thompson (my aunt) who is fighting lymphoma.  Despite the constant rain, there were over 5,000 walkers at the event, including survivors, supporters, and people walking in memory of loved ones.  We started at Sawyer Point in Downtown Cincinnati, walked across the Purple People Bridge to Newport, KY, and came back across the Clyde Wade Baily Bridge back into Sawyer Point – about a 2 mile walk.  “Supporters” carried illuminated red balloons, and “Survivors” carried white balloons.

Unfortunately, I didn’t get any pictures during the walk, as the rain was constant, but once back at the park, I was able to set up my camera under an awning for some group photos.  The “official” Team Thompson group photo is the third one posted, but some of my favorite shots were some of the “candids” I got while setting up my camera and waiting for the group to assemble.  I was so proud that everyone showed up to walk in the pouring rain to show support for Kim.

Good news- our group raised over $200 for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, and over $300 for Kim’s benefit fund for medical expenses from this walk.  Also, Kim’s most recent doctor’s visits have been good, with Kim’s cancer responding positively to her most recent treatments.  She will still have more treatments over the next few months, but at least they are beginning to make progress.

Congrats to a job well done – that is a lot of money! 🙂 I am glad Kim’s prognosis is looking up!! She (and your family) is in our thoughts and prayers! 🙂
