Here’s the church…

Theme: Steeple

… And here’s the steeple.  Open the doors.  Where’s all the people?

I guess on Wednesday evening there are no people…

A fairly ordinary, almost drab, little stone church that I drive by nearly every day completely transformed when the sun set behind it.  It captivated me the other night when there was a beautiful sunset and all the colors in the clouds were bursting around the unique silhouette of the steeple.  I didn’t have my camera with me then, but I came back today to photograph it.

I was a little too early for the sunset shot (I had a soccer game to get to), but I was pretty happy with the way the sun and clouds cooperated for just a brief moment so I could get this shot.  I would still like to try getting this again sometime with the sunset though.

I have to admit, I don’t think that this is something that I would have ever noticed or seen, had it not been for participating in this challenge and constantly trying to look at the “ordinary” world around me in new ways.

Wow, I love this! A new favorite of mine!

  3. This is just wonderful! Love your composition and that sun flare is awesome! Fabulous shot!

  4. Another 5 minutes and you would have had your glorious sunset. 😀 Yet, I like this photo. I agree with your take of it too. Mundane things can really be “punched” up to make them pop when you have the right light. I like the sun flare at the cloud edge, the sky and the silhouette. Nice capture and composition.

  5. I like it a lot! Its very elegant
